da brdice: Rather surprisingly, Celtic did not decide to pursue a direct replacement for German winger Nicolas Kuhn last summer after his move to Como.

da bet esporte: The left-footed star was sold to the Italian side for a fee of £16.5m after a return of 13 goals and nine assists in 32 appearances, per Sofascore, in the Scottish Premiership in the 2024/25 campaign.

Despite losing such a huge talent in the wide department, the Hoops ended the summer transfer window without a single natural right winger signed, instead opting to bring in Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Sebastian Tounekti, two right-footed left wingers.

This means that the Scottish giants are still yet to properly replace Kuhn, who provided so much quality in the final third during his time at Parkhead, as they do not currently have a left-footed right wing option.

Celtic open talks to sign Premier League winger

The Scottish giants, however, are now reportedly looking at signing a star who could arrive in Glasgow as their next version of the German wing wizard.

According to Celts Are Here, Celtic have made contact with Premier League side Crystal Palace to enquire about a deal to sign Jesurun Rak-Sakyi in the January transfer window.

The report claims that the two sides are in talks over a transfer that would see the English forward make the move to Glasgow on loan for the rest of the season.

It adds, though, that Celtic and Palace are currently a way apart in negotiations because the Premier League team want an obligation to make the deal permanent in the summer, whilst the Hoops want an option.

Celts Are Here claims that the Hoops can afford the £8m fee that the Eagles want for the left-footed attacker, but they would prefer an option instead of an obligation to mitigate the risk if he is not a success during his loan spell.

Why Celtic should pay the money for Rak-Sakyi

The Scottish giants should take up the obligation to make the deal permanent for £8m instead of insisting on an option to buy so that they can get this move over the line in the coming days, because he could be a brilliant addition to the squad.

Like Kuhn, Rak-Sakyi is a left-footed right winger who has the potential to provide quality as a scorer and a creator of goals, whilst he also has the dribbling skills to get supporters off their feet with exciting play on the flank.

The 23-year-old talent spent the first half of the season on loan with Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig, and his form during that spell suggests that he could arrive at Parkhead as an upgrade on Hyun-jun Yang on the right wing.

As you can see in the table above, Rak-Sakyi has scored one more goal and provided one more assist in five fewer league appearances than the South Korean star so far this season, whilst completing twice as many dribbles per game.

The Palace youngster, who was once described as a “frightening” forward by U23 scout Antonio Mango, also produced seven goals and 3.48 xA in 22 starts in the Championship on loan at Sheffield United in the 2024/25 campaign, per Sofascore.

Before that, Rak-Sakyi delivered 15 goals and eight assists in 43 appearances for Charlton Athletic on loan in League One in the 2022/23 campaign, which shows that he has scored goals and created chances wherever he has been in his career, in League One, the Championship, and the Super Lig.

These statistics also show that he could be a Kuhn-esque figure on the right wing for Celtic because he has the quality to score and create goals on a regular basis, as the German did, as a left-footed right winger for the Hoops.

His form in Turkey, as aforementioned, also suggests that he would arrive as Martin O’Neill’s best option on the wing, ahead of Yang, which is another reason why he could be an excellent addition to the squad.

That is why the Hoops must change their stance and tell Palace that they are willing to agree to an obligation to sign him permanently, because his career so far suggests that it would not be much of a risk to pay £8m for him, as he has adapted to every league and club he has been at to date and shown real quality in the final third.

Celtic have already signed their own Piroe in "outstanding" Parkhead talent
